The town of Longboat Key recently implemented a townwide waiver for the allowable construction hours related to hurricane damage repairs.

Construction is allowed to commence between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturdays. No construction is allowed on Sundays or holidays.

This extension is in effect until May 1, at which time town staff will review the waiver.

The new waiver amends the town's previous extension which went into effect after hurricanes Helene and Milton. Previously, the town had allowed storm-related construction from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.

Town staff implemented extended construction hours to ease residents' construction processes as they recover from these storms.

For more information about construction hours or storm-related permitting, contact the Planning, Zoning and Building Department at 941-316-1966, or visit the office at 501 Bay Isles Road from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.
