St. Patrick’s Taste of Spanish Point 2018

You don’t have to wait until St. Patrick’s day to pretend you’re Irish. Celebrate the land of all things green by sipping local craft brews and wines, munching on appetizers from Sarasota County restaurants and listening to live music by Mountain Brew.

 

Mike Solomon "Native Shore" Opening Reception

"Native Shore" celebrates Solomon's return to his hometown of Sarasota after almost 40 years away. Growing up, the artist says he became a "water person" and still feels most at peace along the shore — a theme reflected through the aqueous colors and translucent depths of his paintings. Exhibition runs through April 14, 2018.

It’s easy to see why Julie Scoggins is often called the “Queen of Clubs.” She often sells out comedy venues from Oregon to Florida, and she’s regularly heard on XM’s Sirius Blue Collar Radio. Runs through March 18.

 

Don't Miss: Masterworks 6: Lift-Off

Let Sarasota Orchestra take your imagination on a cosmic journey with this evening of heavenly, out-of-this-world music. Hear the orchestra play Holst’s “The Planets” and Roger Zare’s “Lift-Off” as well as a performance of several Mozart concert arias sung by soprano Pureum Jo.

Sarasota’s rowdiest St. Patrick’s Day celebration is roaring into its 10th year, and there is no shortage of festivities to celebrate. First pint is at 9 a.m. Saturday, and live entertainment starts at noon. Enjoy everything from Irish jigs with the Drake School of Irish Dance to some “dad rock,” as members of Physical Plant like to self-identify. Event benefits the Sarasota YMCA Youth Shelter.

 

Art Up Close Panel Discussion: ‘Artists and Social Responsibilities’
