The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest related to the lockdown of several Sarasota schools Thursday.

Anthony Duncan, 17, was found Thursday at the city bus station on North Lemon Street after allegedly displaying a gun on a school bus on its way to Riverview High School at 7:30 a.m. According to student reports, he allegedly showed other students the weapon and several bullets, but did not make any threats.

After arriving at the school, the suspect left campus. He was found more than five miles from campus at the city bus station.

Sarasota County Schools put six area schools on lockdown out of what it called "an abundance of caution" at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday. Riverview, Suncoast Polytechnical High School, Suncoast Technical College, Phillippi Elementary School and Wilkinson Elementary School remained under a lockdown until noon on Thursday. Imagine Schools at Palmer Ranch voluntarily put its facility on lockdown despite being outside the area of immediate concern.

Sarasota County Schools lifted the lockdown at noon on Thursday after Duncan was located. Sheriff's office officials interviewed and later arrested the student. He has been charged with possessing a firearm on school property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and criminal mischief. Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
