Republican Club of Longboat Key reunites

The Harbourside Ballroom walls echoed with the sounds of friends greeting each other on Oct. 11.

As the Republican Club of Longboat Key gathered for its first meeting of the season, members caught up with each other on their summer adventures.

After enjoying a cocktail hour, club President Joe McElmeel welcomed the approximately 40 members back. Then Longboat Key Police Chief Pete Cumming and Longboat Key Fire Rescue Chief Paul Dezzi spoke to the club about Hurricane Irma response and recovery. Cumming also discussed island security.

The club’s next meeting is on Nov. 7 at the Longboat Key Club’s Harbourside Ballroom. Reservations can be made online at the club's website.
