On Tuesday, the Florida Department of Transportation will update residents on a plan to construct roundabouts along U.S. 41 at 10th and 14th streets.

FDOT is holding the meeting from 5-7 p.m. at the Bayfront Community Center, 803 N. Tamiami Trail. In addition to informational displays, project staff will be present at the meeting to field questions from the public.

The state plans to begin construction on the roundabouts in October or November. Construction is scheduled to continue through spring 2020. The intersections will remain open to traffic during construction. The state will share information regarding traffic management at Tuesday’s meeting.

In addition to the two-lane roundabouts at 10th and 14th streets, that segment of U.S. 41 will be widened to include bike lanes and dedicated turn lanes. The project will also add pedestrian signals and refuge islands at 10th and 14th streets.

Early next year, the owners of the Quay property plan to begin construction of another roundabout at U.S. 41 and Fruitville Road. The property owners said they are working with the state and city to coordinate the two projects.

More information on the roundabouts at 10th street and 14th street  is available on the FDOT project website.
