Sarasota police investigate death after body found

The Sarasota Police Department is still investigating the circumstances behind a dead body discovered Saturday morning.

The body was found at Bahia Vista Street and Yale Avenue at approximately 7:30 a.m. Saturday, the department announced. The Police Department is working with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office to determine if the body is related to a double homicide that also occurred Saturday in Manatee County.

After beginning an investigation Saturday, the SPD announced today it had no further details on the body to release to the public. The department said it has no information that would indicate there is a threat to public safety connected to the discovery of the body.
