One of the 2,500 cows at Dakin Dairy. The farm held its fourth annual dairy festival Saturday, June 4. Attendees could go on a farm tour, taste milk and cheese made at the farm, milk a cow and pet animals.
During the farm tour, Kim Smith explained how the cows are cared for and about the milk they produce. The milking cows produce about 70 to 90 gallons a week.
Karen Dakin said she came up with the idea to have the festival because June is national dairy month.
"It's to get out, run around, old fashioned moving your muscles," she said.
