The ladies present didn’t have to frolic in the frost on the sunny afternoon of Dec. 13, but they did enjoy a round of golf and lunch at the annual Frosty Frolic.

More than 170 women of the Key Niner’s and Women’s Golf Association attended the event held at the Harbourside dining room of the Longboat Key Club and Resort. Each attendee was asked to bring an unwrapped gift that will be donated to Toys for Tots.

Sandy Fulkerson planned the event, along with various committee members. She said her favorite part is how inclusive it is of the two golf associations. Each year, those organizing the event choose a charity to donate to. In the past, donations have gone to SPARCC, Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center, nursing homes and women’s shelters.

Anyone handling an injured pelican should keep an ideally gloved finger between the bird's beak to keep the bird restrained without inhibiting its ability to breathe.
