The Harvest Moon Classic at Ancient Oak Gun Club started off with a bang Thursday.

Shooters participated in the 100-bird preliminaries this morning, meaning the winner had to shoot a perfect score, 100 clays, to win a John Deere Gator utility terrain vehicle, valued at $22,000. There were 120 shooters registered for the prelim.

Jordan and Emma Blanton, brother and sister, traveled from Jacksonville to shoot with their father, Jamie, uncle, Jack and family friend Russ Miles. The siblings had a friendly rivalry Thursday morning, but Emma Blanton admitted that her brother was beating her. She started shooting four years ago with her dad.

"It's fun, and you get to hear things go bang," she said, laughing.

The competition runs Thursday, Oct. 8 through Sunday, Oct. 11.
