The Out-of-Door Academy football team made a number of big plays through the air during its Class 2A-District 5 game versus Bradenton Christian Oct. 2.

But the Panthers made a few more plays in the second half, as Bradenton Christian pulled away from ODA 55-40 in an offensive shootout.

ODA freshman quarterback Anthony Squitieri, who was making his first start under center, threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for a score. Freshman wide receiver Austin Brinling caught seven passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Squitieri also connected with Kendall Johnson for a 9-yard touchdown and Owen Han for a 32-yard score.

The Thunder held a 27-20 halftime lead; but was unable to hold off Bradenton Christian down the stretch, as the Panthers scored five touchdowns in the second half. Junior quarterback Dominick Otteni threw for 269 yards and four touchdowns to lead the way for Bradenton Christian. He also rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns.

ODA returns to non-district action Oct. 9, as the Thunder plays host to St. Petersburg Catholic.
