The Longboat Key Town Commission will discuss a proposed roundabout study at its regular workshop scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Longboat Key Town Hall.

The study would explore the feasibility of installing roundabouts on Gulf of Mexico Drive at its intersections with Broadway and Longboat Club Road.

Town Manager Dave Bullock proposed spending $15,000 on the study in a memo to the Longboat Key Town Commission. Concept designs will cost $4,300, and the remaining $10,700 would be used to take concepts to the next level of detail, if necessary.

A Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) representative suggested a roundabout at Broadway in December, after telling the commission the intersection would be a poor location for a crosswalk due to a curve in the road.
