Thirty-two is this year’s lucky number at the Longboat Key Club.

The resort received its 32nd annual AAA Four Diamond Award on April 7.

To receive four diamonds, a hotel must be “upscale in all areas” and “progressively more refined and stylish,” according to the AAA website.

“To receive this, the hotel provides excellent service, hospitality, cleanliness and goes above and beyond in customer service,” AAA Field Manager Don Schwartz, who presented the award, said. “It’s an exclusive club.”

Only 5.4 percent of the nearly 30,000 approved AAA hotels receive this distinction, and even fewer have the longstanding recognition of the Key Club.

General Manager Jeff Mayers said 110 hotels across the U.S. and only six in Florida have been as consistently recognized as the Key Club.

“This says a lot about the hard work that you do to make a difference,” Mayers said at the monthly managers’ meeting. “It’s all about taking care of the guests and for that, we’ve been recognized.”
