The Phillippi Farmhouse Market runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday from October through April. Wednesday, Oct. 1 was its first market day this fall.
Amanda Beers, a Sarasota resident, browses produce at the Brown's Grove tent. She lives nearby and comes to the market often, she said.
Gail Blesoe, a Texas resident, came to the market while she was in Sarasota. She purchased some of vendor Pat Webber's nature print table runners at the Farmhouse Market.
The Phillippi Farmhouse Market donated $60,767.10 to the county to help restore the historic farmhouse on the estate.
Walter, a 2-year-old hound mix, got to attend the first market of the season. The Humane Society of Sarasota County brings adoptable pets to the market about twice a month. Walter is available for adoption.
The market vendors sell a variety of products, from salsa to flowers. Other vendors are artists and sell their work.
