The Met Gala is one of my favorite events of the year, not only because it generates a large amount of funding for The Metropolitan Museum of Arts ($9 million raised in 2013, to be exact) but also because, lets face it — it's really all about the gorgeous gowns and gaudy get-ups.

Although I can't fathom why brushed satin fabric is a thing again (this should have died in 1989 or at LEAST with my high school prom in 2006), there were some absolute stunners this year, and some of them even came in pairs.

My Best-Dressed-Couple-of-the-Night Award is a toss up. While I rather enjoyed Ryan Reynolds' midnight blue velvet tux and bow tie, Blake Lively was really the picture of perfection in her sequined nude dress, which paired perfectly with her tousled waves, both draped in gorgeous Gucci.

Lively and Reynolds would have won my heart if Johnny Depp and his stunning fiancée, Amber Heard, had just stayed home. Maybe it's just because I have a thing for old pocket watches, but Johnny’s ode-to-the-Titanic tux gave me a case of the warm fuzzies. But in all seriousness, Johnny Depp looked incredibly dapper in Ralph Lauren alongside Ms. Heard, who wore an allover embroidered gown from Giambattista Valli.

Cara Delevingne has been my #WCW on Instagram for the last month, so it should be no surprise to anyone when I say she was also a favorite of mine, rocking Stella McCartney white chinos, a strappy crop top and her signature bushy brows.

It's probably just because I'm a flower child at heart but my No. 1 look of the night was from another Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester, who took the plunge in a studded and jewel-adorned Emilio Pucci dress. This Boho-inspired silhouette, with both a plunging deep V and leg slit, manages to be elegant, not overt.
