AUDITIONS: Calling artists, writers, actors and college students

This week local organizations are seeking artists, writers, actors, children actors and college students.

Embracing Our Differences seeking artists and writers:

What: Embracing Our Differences, a bayfront exhibit promoting diversity and understanding, is seeking artists and writers for the 12th annual exhibit. Thirty-nine artists and writers will be selected for the March 29 through May 31, 2015 exhibit of billboard-sized work. A total of $3,000 will be awarded, and there is no submission fee or limit to number of entries.

Backstage at The Players “Breaking Out in Ives” audition:

What: Backstage at The Players offers black-box style, intimate theater productions of edgier and more contemporary work. “Breaking Out in Ives” is a production of six one-act comedies.
When : Auditions for the first show of the 2014-15 season will take place at 5 p.m. August 10. Sides are available at the box office, 838 N. Tamiami Trail.

Internship at FSU college of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance:

What: Florida State University college of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance is seeking an experienced individual to start in Fall 2014. This for-credit intern would be responsible for areas of photography (should have own equipment), blog writing and web programming.

The Players Theatre Broadway Series:
What: Musical theater performers for two Broadway Series shows — “The Addams Family: A New Musical” and “A Christmas Story”
When: starting 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9

Venice Theatre productions:
What:  “The Rocky Horror Show” (musical)

What: Tenors needed for paid professional ensemble

Asolo Repertory Theatre:
What: Asian American children needed for “South Pacific”
When: 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5
Info: Email [email protected] with subject line: SOUTH PACIFIC Children’s Auditions. Include your preferred audition time, name, name of child auditioning and a contact phone number. Children should prepare a short monologue and 16-bars of a song (musical theatre, pop/rock or gospel; accompanist provided).
