UPDATE: First tropical storm of season forms in Atlantic

Tropical Storm Arthur has formed off of the east coast of Florida, and meteorolologists expect the storm system to moth northwest along the coastline and reach Daytona Beach tomorrow.

The tropical storm currently has sustained wind speeds of up to 40 miles-per-hour.

Earlier: After a quiet start to the 2014 Hurricane Season, the first tropical depression has formed off of the east coast of Florida.

Tropical Depression One is moving at roughly 2 miles-per-hour west-to-northwest, with wind speeds of up to 35 miles-per-hour 70 miles off the coast of Ft. Pierce. The system will likely develop into a tropical storm Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The cyclone is on track to continue moving north along the east coast of the U.S.
