WEEKEND BEST BET: Springfest 2014

Celebrate the return of spring early at the 8th annual Sarasota Springfest Saturday, March 1.

The all-day event begins at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K Family Fun Walk-Run and 12K Road Race through Palmer Ranch and Legacy Trail. Runners are invited to enjoy a post-race breakfast brunch before the festival’s opening ceremony at 9 a.m.

All proceeds from the races benefit the Sheriffs Activities League’s youth programs.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. festival-goers can enjoy live music by local bands, great food and family activities, such as an egg hunt and craft tables. The festival will also have fresh produce and wellness booths.
