Sarasota Exotic Car Fest

Guests attended Gatsby-themed parties all weekend for the Sarasota Exotic Car Fest — starting with the Luxury Lifestyle Jet Port Reception on Friday, Feb. 21 and ending with the Roaring ‘20s Party Saturday, Feb. 22.

Friday’s Jet Port Reception was held at Rectrix Aerodrome Center and featured luxury jets, exotic cars, motorcycles and a runway show. Saturday’s Roaring ‘20s Party took place at Sarasota Yacht Club, where guests mingled on the Mainsail patio for cocktails and then enjoyed dinner and dancing in the dining room.

‘A-Nu Time’

To celebrate the appointment of Anu Tali as Sarasota Orchestra’s fifth music director, the organization held a celebratory event called “A-Nu Time” Saturday, Feb. 22, at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.

President Joe McKenna, board chair and event Design Chair Anne Folsom Smith and Co-Chairs Beathe Elden and Christine Isaac welcomed guests as they walked down the stairs into the grand foyer, which was decorated in stunning purple décor. The event began with a cocktail reception on the Sunset Terrace, where more than 335 guests mingled amidst the fog that was rolling in off Sarasota Bay.

Anu Tali spoke a few words before the Masterworks performance, which included three works conducted by the new music director. Following the performance, guests returned to the grand foyer for the afterglow dessert reception, where they enjoyed desserts, a performance by the John Miller Jazz Quartet and the opportunity to mingle with Tali.
