The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office issued three reports Sunday. Two of the alleged crimes committed over the weekend are still under investigation, and the story will be updated as new information is released.

Homicide
Deputies responded to a alleged homicide reported at 5:30 a.m. Sunday. A woman reported three men broke into her home and demanded money. As they left, they shot and killed her husband, Jonathan Jeffery, 25, she said.

The alleged incident is still under investigation.

Attempted strong-arm robbery
Deputies responded to a location on 17th Street for a report of an alleged robbery at 7:08 p.m. Sunday.

The victim reported he was walking home from his job at Ker's WingHouse when two men approached him from behind near Casey’s Auto, located at the corner of Mango Avenue and 17th Street. They first asked him if he had drugs to sell, and when he told them he was not involved with drugs, they asked for money, according to the flash report the Sheriff’s Office issued. The victim told the alleged aggressors he only had money to buy Christmas presents for his daughter. They then attempted to take his cell phone, but he defended himself and fled from the two men.

The victim then called 911; a K-9 unit attempted to track the suspects, but was unsuccessful. The suspects were not found.

Stabbing
Deputies responded to a stabbing at Siesta Key Public Beach at 11:15 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, the deputies found several subjects who were allegedly involved in the incident. Witnesses identified a possible suspect, whom deputies found.

The 18-year-old male victim’s injuries were reported to be minor, and he was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

The incident is still under investigation.
