Plymouth Harbor better be prepared — for some helpful hands. That’s because Sarasota Boy Scout Troop No. 895 will assist with a project to remove invasive plantings and replace them with natural native plants as part of a long-term effort to restore a natural ecosystem at Plymouth Harbor.
But, it’s not just Boy Scouts who are helping out: Three Girl Scouts from Troop No. 121 joined the nine Boy Scouts and five scout leaders and parents June 18, during the first work day.
During lunch break, the group learned a lesson from Dr. Lou Newman — Plymouth Harbor resident, retired veterinarian and photographer extraordinaire — about the birds that frequent the area.
Plymouth Harbor received a $3,000 grant award from Sarasota Bay Estuary Program for the project.
