One Popcorn: Flop
Two Popcorns: Wait till it’s on video
Three Popcorns: Go see it
Four Popcorns: Standing ovation

"Zero Dark Thirty"
Three Popcorns
Genre: Suspense/Thriller
Cast: Joel Edgerton, Jessica Chastain, Edgar Rameriz, Kyle Chandler, Mark Strong, Chris Pratt, James Gandolfini
Director: Kathryn Bigelow
Rating: R
Comment: An Oscar-nominated portrayal of the hunt and killing of Osama bin Laden. Very realistic and an edge-of-your-seat thriller.

"Gangster Squad"
Genre: Drama
Cast: Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Michael Pena, Anthony Mackie, Emma Stone
Director: Ruben Fleischer
Rating: R
Comment: A nostalgic '40s gangsta flick with great atmospherics. Penn does a good job of playing the beyond evil Mickey Cohen, right in his "wheelhouse." Old-fashioned good guys versus the bad guys. A little corny, though.

"Promised Land"
One Popcorn
Genre: Drama
Cast: Matt Damon, John Krasinsky, Frances McDormand, Rosemarie DeWitt, Hal Holbrook
Director: Gus Van Sant
Rating: R
Comment: An icon for Hollywood's progressive political propaganda. Big corporation out to intentionally deceive and destroy the environment. Almost zero entertainment value.
