The three-acre Gulf-front Ohana estate could be yours — for $22 million.

Deborah Beacham, of Michael Saunders & Co.’s Longboat Key South office, listed the property at 6633 Gulf of Mexico Drive for $22 million Wednesday.

The estate has been under construction for at least three years, according to Beacham.

The $22 million listing price is a record for the Sarasota area.

“It is a record for Sarasota, but if you compare this quality of land and quality of structures to places like Palm Beach and Naples, it would probably go for $40 million or $50 million there,” Beacham said.

The property consists of three pavilions and a separate beachfront guest house. Sarasota architect Guy Peterson designed the estate. Michael K. Walker & Associates was the builder.

The name “Ohana” is derived from a Hawaiian word that translates to “a place of family, laughter and sharing.”

The main residence was built as an addition to a smaller existing home. According to Peterson’s website, guypeterson.com:

“Due to the challenging permitting requirements for coastal construction, the ability to have a new house on grade this close to the Gulf is not possible. The homeowners have chosen to redevelop the existing house into a new family ‘lodge.’”

The three pavilions are set around a free-form swimming pool with a swim-up sun shelf and adjacent, palm-thatched beach pavilion. A motor court and tennis court are located on the east side of the property.

The three pavilions have slightly less than 10,000 square feet of living space and include six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and two half-baths.
