Art and Soul
Twenty students from Booker Middle School performed for residents of Sarasota Bay Club Thursday, Dec. 5. The students integrated art, music and poetry for a memorable evening. Jill Ross from Sarasota Bay Club and Booker Middle teacher Joanna Fox collaborated to put on the event. They hope to continue sharing the students’ various talents with residents.

Mission Possible
Sarasota Christian School eighth-grade students went on a three-day mission trip to Miami Dec. 4 through Dec. 6. The trip was part of the Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection (DOOR) organization, which provides opportunities for outreach and reflection through volunteer work in an urban context. The students served canned goods to people at a food pantry, helped decorate for Christmas at an after-school program and played with children at a day care.

Christmas Classic
Sarasota High School students performed the classic holiday film “It’s a Wonderful Life” Dec. 10 through Dec. 13.

To give the play the same feeling of the original, the SHS Theater Department produced the play using a black-and-white color palette. Lacey Knispel, SHS drama teacher and play director, said that working in black and white was both challenging and rewarding.
