Students presented with Dolphin Aviation scholarships

Five Sarasota County students received $1,000 scholarships Thursday from Florida Sen. Nancy Detert and Dolphin Aviation owner Ron Ciaravell, at Dolphin Aviation.

The scholarships were granted to Breanna Barrett and Brittany Detert of Venice High School; Mekala Jones of Booker High School; Tianna Smith of Southeast High School; and Jessiah Straw of Sarasota Military Academy and are to be used toward higher education.

Ciaravelle started as a flight instructor and has been with Dolphin Aviation for more than 43 years. He purchased Dolphin Aviation in 1979. 

Ciaravella has been awarding scholarships to individuals for the past 12 years.
