With tickets starting at $2,500, the Republican Party of Sarasota County plans to host an “intimate gathering” Sept. 20, featuring Gov. Mitt Romney and his presidential running mate, Paul Ryan, according to an email from the Sarasota GOP.

Joe Gruters, party chairman, said in the email that he would shortly be able to provide additional details of the time and place of the event, which comes less than one month after the Sarasota GOP brought Donald Trump, and record-setting attendance for the Statesman of Year dinner, to the Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota.

The Sept. 20 fundraiser is intended to help the Romney/Ryan ticket raise the necessary funds to counter the Obama campaign’s $3 million-per-day spending efforts in Florida, Gruters said in the email.
