1. Faber’s favorite hobby is golf. “Once you get to where you can enjoy it as a game, it’s something you can do for the rest of your life,” he said.

2. Faber volunteers for Sarasota’s First Tee program, which allows kids to play golf who might not have the chance otherwise. “They learn to golf, but they also learn responsibility out there,” said Faber.

3. Faber enjoys singing, and he has put his vocal chords to use singing in choirs and bands throughout his life — he even sang at the Miss Florida Pageant on two occasions. In high school, he went by the stage name Rusty Colt.

4. During his time in management at the Post Office, Faber was instrumental in the naming and approving of Sarasota’s Glengarry Post Office.

5. Always a giver, Faber spends some of his free time helping some of his older neighbors with their lawns and hosts them each year for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. “They’ve helped people throughout their lives,” he said. “So I try to give back.”
