+ Town software wins ‘best application’ award
The Florida Local Government Information Systems Association named software developed by the town for the Fire Rescue Department “Best Application Serving a Public Organization’s Business Needs” at a conference earlier this month.

Management Information Systems Director Kathi Pletzke wrote in an email that she demonstrated the software for more than 100 people and fielded questions from attendees who were interested in purchasing it.

+ Publix progress report
The only thing that can top Publix’s July 12 “topping off” celebration? The actual top going on the grocery-store chain’s new Longboat Key store.

Roofing work has been ongoing throughout last week on the new Publix, while scaffolding is going up for the retail shops directly to the west of the new grocery store.

Meanwhile, CVS is beginning to look like an operational store, with its wall sign, windows and doors in place.
