The town will hold a community meeting to discuss landscaping and property maintenance codes at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Longboat Key Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road.

Current regulations restrict the town’s Code Enforcement from addressing issues such as maintenance of swimming pools, parking lots, windows and doors, along with landscaping concerns such as overgrown hedges and dead vegetation.

Town staff will present information about the possible adoption of the International Property Maintenance Code, which would strengthen town regulations. Former Longboat Key Code Enforcement Officer Ben Bailey, who now works for the city of Fort Myers, which has adopted the International Property Maintenance Code, will speak at the meeting.

The information from the meeting will be compiled into a report that will be forwarded to the Longboat Key Town Commission.
