+ City offices are closed for Labor Day
City of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 3, in observance of Labor Day. Trash collection will not be impacted.

The regular City Commission meeting will be held the following day, Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 2:30 and 6 p.m. at City Hall, 1565 First St.

+ Teacher showcase rescheduled
The Arts and Cultural Alliance is presenting an EdExploreSRQ Teacher Showcase from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Roskamp Exhibition Hall, Ringling College of Art and Design, 2700 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. The event was rescheduled from Aug. 27 due to Tropical Storm Isaac. 

The showcase will give Sarasota County teachers an opportunity to meet face-to-face with organization representatives and artists who offer explorations through EdExploreSRQ.com. The event will also include a workshop on collaboration and grant writing. 

EdExploreSRQ.com was created in partnership with the Sarasota County Schools, the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County, the Science and Environment Council of Sarasota County and the Patterson Foundation.
