Sarasota city manager list of 104 revealed

Search consultant Colin Baenziger of Wellington-based Colin Baenziger & Associates presented a list of 104 city manager candidates to Human Resources Director Kurt Hoverter Tuesday. The list of candidates is expected to be further reduced by the search firm before a small list is presented to the Sarasota City Commission

The tentative date for finalist interviews is June 15 and 16 in Sarasota. City staff has reserved the Grand Foyer at the Van Wezel for a “Meet the Candidates” reception the evening of June 15.

It is anticipated that the City Commission will participate in a public meeting with Colin Baenziger in May to narrow the candidates from a semi-finalist list to the finalists invited for the onsite interviews.

In addition to the reception, the two-day finalist process will include individual interviews with each commissioner, a public meeting with each individual candidate and the entire commission, interviews of each individual candidate by the Citizen Advisory Panel, separate get-acquainted sessions with department heads and charter officials and a tour of the community.

The list which includes more than 20 Florida candidates, also includes candidates that don't have government experience such as an Air Force colonel, a tax advisor and a paralegal. The list also includes Susan Stanton, who didn't get the job in 2007 in favor of Bob Bartolotta.
