UPDATE: Crash at Fruitville Road & Beneva Road Intersection

A white, four-door Toyota attempted to make a left turn while heading eastbound on Fruitville Road onto Beneva Road. The Toyota was hit by a SCAT bus and a Chevrolet pickup truck driving westbound on Fruitville.

Sarasota police are investigating the crash that occurred today at 12:36 p.m., involving three vehicles. 

A white, four-door Toyota attempted to make a left turn while heading eastbound on Fruitville Road onto Beneva Road. The Toyota was hit by a SCAT bus and a Chevrolet pickup truck driving westbound on Fruitville. The Toyota did not have the right of way.

Two passengers in the Toyota were taken by helicopter to the Bayfront Medical Center for serious injuries. The driver was transported by ambulance to the Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

The SCAT bus driver, lone passenger, and the driver of the pickup truck received treatment at the scene of the crash.

Westbound traffic on Fruitville Road at Beneva Road was closed for three hours. The roads have now reopened.
