+ New College poet celebrates first book of poems
Alexis Orgera, above, held a book-release party for her first book of poetry, “How Like Foreign Objects,” Saturday, May 14, at Red Panty Press Studio, in The Rosemary District. Orgera’s friends, family and poetry fans came out for the event, which included food and drinks, along with a display of artwork based on select poems from Orgera’s book.

The artwork was done by local artists, many of whom are members of the Uprise Art Collective. Orgera read the poems from her book that went along with the pieces of art to a crowd of more than 50 people.
Orgera graduated from New College in ’99 and is now the assistant director of the Writing Resource Center at her alma mater.
