The Sarasota City Commission will discuss changing the development process for the future State Street parking garage and discuss potential zoning code amendments at its 2:30 p.m. regular meeting today at City Hall.

When the commission reconvenes its meeting at 6 p.m., commissioners will also discuss the regulation of boats outside a future mooring field in Sarasota Bay. Commissioner Shannon Snyder also wants to hold a discussion about the city’s downtown post office and discuss the speed limit on North Tamiami Trail from Fruitville Road north to the city limits.

Also at its regular meeting today at City Hall, 1565 First St., commissioners will:

Hear:
• A Public Art Committee update.
• A presentation on public landscape installation and maintenance guidelines for public lands and rights-of-ways.
• An update from the Aging with Dignity and Independence Initiative.
• An appeal of a Planning Board decision that denied a proposed duplex at 1910 Laurel Street.

Make board appointments:
• For the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Protection Advisory Board.
• For the St. Armands Business Improvement District Board of Directors.

Consider approving:
• An ordinance that would allow property at 1400 DeSoto Road to be rezoned from commercial to multiple family residential.
• An ordinance that would allow property at the intersection of Siesta Drive and South Tamiami Trail to be rezoned from single family residential to an office community district.
