Firefighter injured during Pinecraft structure fire

Sarasota County Fire Department crews responded to reports of a structure fire shortly before noon Sunday in the 1000 block of Herndon Place.

Crews arrived on scene within six minutes, according to a news release. The fire was contained and is currently under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal.

During the incident, a firefighter experienced a medical emergency. Crews provided emergency medical assistance before the firefighter was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was later reported as awake, talking and responding well to care.

The Sarasota County Fire Department is providing support to the unidentified firefighter, his family and personnel involved in the incident. Support is also being provided by the American Red Cross to the family whose home was impacted by the fire.

Herndon Place is in the Pinecraft Community one block north of Bahia Vista Street behind the Carlisle Inn and Conference Center.
