The Bay Breeze Rotary Club of Sarasota recently invited four Cardinal Mooney High School Advanced Placement Literature students to participate in the Rotary International Four-Way Speech Contest.

Students chose newsworthy topics and showed knowledge in their presentations. Members of the Rotary club acted as judges of the speeches and compiled votes to determine the winners.

Brandon Saia won first place with “Child Trafficking,” and Genevieve Casagrande and Stephan Wazny tied for second place with “Lack of Treatment for Disease in Developing Countries” and “The Hidden Tragedy of Human Trafficking,” respectively. Lauren MacKinnon, who spoke about “Eating Disorders,” won third place.
