What did you expect?
11 a.m. — 900 block of Beach Road. Car Burglary. A man parked his car in a public beach parking lot. He left it unlocked with a wallet and MP3 player inside. When he returned to the car, the items were no longer there.
Just browsing
1:13 p.m. — 8700 block of Dunmore Drive. Burglary. An alarm company reported a burglar alarm sounding at the above address. A deputy arrived to find the front door pried open, but there was nobody inside. The homeowner was called to inspect the house, and he said nothing appeared to be missing. He did not have any idea who may have broken into his home.
Someone has a serious fetish
4:30 p.m. — 8200 block of South Tamiami Trail. Grand Theft. The manager of a lingerie store reported that someone had stolen about 300 pairs of women’s underwear. The undergarments were last seen on a shelf near the front of the store. Total value — $2,447.
Nothing up my sleeve
6:50 p.m. — 8400 block of South Tamiami Trail. Petit Theft and Resisting Arrest in Retail Theft. A discount store security guard was watching a 25-year-old man lurking in the electronics section. The man was placing video games under his shirt. When the man tried to leave the store, the guard grabbed his arm and asked him to return the games. The man broke free and ran outside. Just minutes later, a deputy spotted him about a block away and arrested him.
The day the music died
7:15 p.m. — 5100 block of Ocean Boulevard. Car Burglary. A man had $1,400 worth of musical equipment in his car when he stopped at a Siesta Key bar. After being inside for about an hour, he returned to the car to see one of the car’s back windows had been smashed and his guitar, amps and microphone had been stolen.

Not his type
3 p.m. — 10 block of South Lime Avenue. Suspicious Person. The complainant was standing in front of a convenience store when two men walked by. One of the men asked the complainant if he could have a cigarette. The complainant said no. The men kept walking. One of them suddenly stopped, walked up to the complainant and said: “I might be the type of guy that would beat the s*** out of you and take your cigarettes.” The man then turned back around and walked away. Apparently, he wasn’t that type of guy.

Trust issues
6 a.m. — 4300 block of Winners Circle. Car Burglary. The complainant walked out to her car in the morning and was surprised to see that someone had stolen the credit card, $10 bill and driver’s license that had been sitting on the center console. There was no forced entry because the car had been left unlocked overnight.
