Comment: One loss won't mar Mustang season

I watched the Lakewood Ranch High softball team walk away from the National Training Center following its 4-0 loss to Pembroke Pines Charter in the Class 6A state semifinals together, I couldn't help but notice the dedication the Lady Mustangs showed not only for their sport but one another.

The U.S. Southeastern Regional Martial Arts team, which consists of members from all over the state, met Saturday, May 12, at Sarasota High School to train for the upcoming World Martial Arts Games. In preparation for the competition, students practiced circuit workouts, sparring and various katas, which consist of choreographed martial arts techniques. The team is currently arranging fundraisers to pay for the World Games in Geneva, Switzerland this August.
