More than 1,550 swimmers, ranging in age from 18-97, hit the pool for the 2013 Pan-American Masters Championships June 1-13, at the Selby Aquatic Center in Sarasota. The event, which was held in the United States for the first time, drew swimmers from 22 different countries to compete in synchronized swimming, swimming and open water competition.

The board of directors chose recipients in April based on a few key guidelines. Students had to be pursuing higher education in the arts and the local community organization had to be involved in the arts as well.
