Sarasota residents, businesses and visitors are invited to participate in brief online survey as the city’s sound consultant Siebein Acoustic nears completion of its citywide noise study.

Participants are asked about the types of sounds they encounter, as well as where and when those sounds are experienced, their duration and their effect on the use or enjoyment of an area.

Throughout the summer, the Siebein staff have canvassed the city taking sound measurements, collecting technical data, meeting with residents and business owners and visiting locations of interest. Community input will be presented alongside field observations, acoustic measurements and other technical information during a presentation to the City Commission in September.

The findings will be incorporated into the commission’s considerations on whether additional study is needed and what changes to the city’s sound ordinance should be considered.

The online survey is open at SarasotaFL.gov/Soundscape and responses will be accepted through Aug. 31.
