Early-voting machine malfunctions

The voting machine at the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Office had tabulated more than 2,000 votes before one of its counters reset. The supervisor of elections said no votes will be lost.

Suspect, deputies exchange gunfire

According to a witness, a hit-and-run suspect with a gun jumped out of a stolen pickup and began firing at several sheriff's deputies. The suspect was seriously hurt, and, according to the witness, a deputy was also shot.
