Athlete of the Week: Tommy Hubbard

Eleven-year-old Tommy Hubbard pitched five solid innings of a must-win game, propelling Braden River's 10- and 11-year-old All-Stars to a 4-3 victory over Lakewood Ranch in Game 3 of the District 26 All-Star Baseball Tournament June 29. The Braden River Middle School sixth-grader also hit a double and scored a run. Here is an inside look at this week's Athlete of the Week.

The Braden River and Lakewood Ranch Little League 9-and 10-year-old All-Stars were both victorious in their games June 29. Braden River defeated Manatee Central 8-3 while Lakewood Ranch defeated Buffalo Creek 9-6.

Hundreds of East County residents started their Fourth of July celebration a few days early during the monthly Music on Main concert July 1. Guests enjoyed a mix of classic rock, southern rock and country performances by Johnny Reagan and the Renegades, food and drinks, games and more. Proceeds from beer, wine and food sales benefited the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County.
