The suspect selected a cart full of merchandise, mainly children's clothing, and proceeded to the front of the store. He then grabbed the merchandise from the cart and exited the store, passing all points of sale without making an attempt to pay.

BRE hosts Denim & Diamonds fundraiser

Braden River Elementary School staff and PTO members enjoyed the school's The Denim & Diamonds Fall Ball Party and Fundraiser Nov. 6 at the Sarasota Polo Club. The event featured tapas, beverages, music and a live auction. All proceeds will benefit BRE students in the Accelerated Reading and Renzulli programs.

Bikers from throughout the state motored through the East County for the 13th annual Great Teddy Bear Run Nov. 14. The ride began at The Shoppes at University Center and continued to the Sarasota County Fairgrounds. The event benefited Kids by the Sea, a local non-profit that serves children with cancer.
