Tabernacle creates winter wonderland

Although wintry white stuff wasn't a part of Friday's forecast, students at Tabernacle Christian School enjoyed a rare snow day during the school's winter wonderland Jan. 28. The students took their inflatable rafts up a hill on the school grounds and zoomed down on a bed of real snow - which quickly melted under the Florida sunshine.

Ranch Relay hosts team kick-off party

Relay for Life of Lakewood Ranch looked to get local residents excited about its upcoming Relay for Life event during a Team Premiere Party Jan. 26 at the Lakewood Ranch Cinemas. Guests and volunteers were able to register for this year's relay while enjoying popcorn, prizes and more. Relay for Life of Lakewood Ranch is looking to get 50 teams registered for this year's relay, which will be held April 9-10 at Lakewood Ranch High School.

Concession, Bistro offer 'culinary carnival'

The Concession Golf Club and the Beach Bistro Culinary joined forces to raise money for the All Children's Hospital Foundation and the Aldo Castaneda Foundation with the Culinary Winter Carnival golf and dining event Jan. 21-22. Participants enjoyed a variety of golfing opportunities, guided fishing excursions and an assortment of food some from of the area's finest chefs as part of the festivities.
