Sarasota gunfire remains under investigation

Police looking into a Wednesday shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.

Update:

An arrest has been made in the case of a May 20 shooting of a vehicle in a driveway at the 1800 block of 33rd Street.

The Sarasota Police Department took into custody Jasmine Martin, 32, of 1073 Colleton Drive, Sarasota, on Sunday, May 24, in connection with the shooting. She is currently held without bond at Sarasota County Jail on a charge of discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

A late afternoon shooting on Wednesday, May 20, remains under investigation by the Sarasota Police Department. The shooting occurred in the 1800 block of 33rd Street, a block south of the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, just after 4:30 p.m. There were no injuries.

Detectives believe a known suspect, an adult woman, pulled into a driveway and fired several shots into an unoccupied vehicle parked outside a home, according to a statement issued by SPD. They further believe the shooting followed a dispute between the suspect and another woman.
