Work is expected to get under way soon rehabilitating the north bridge to Siesta Key, but the Florida Department of Transportation says it will remain open to traffic, both motorized and human-powered, above and below the roadway.
The project, valued at $4.3 million according to FDOT, will take place mainly below the main deck of the 1972 drawbridge.

Work is scheduled between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays and is expected to continue until late 2026.
"These improvements will enhance the reliability of this critical connection between Siesta Key Island and the mainland,'' FDOT said.
Bridge opening opportunities are not expected to be affected. FDOT encourages the public to remain alert to construction activity in the area and to use caution when traveling near the work zone.
