Tropical vibes met pizza party nostalgia at Longboat Harbour's seasonal farewell gathering last week.

Residents met up one more time April 16 at the Sutton Place beachside property so those departing for the summer could share a few moments with their friends.

Guitarist and singer John Rinell set the scene with tunes by Jimmy Buffett and company, and attendees snacked on piping-hot slices of pie from Joey D's Chicago-Style Eatery & Pizzeria while sharing their travel plans.

Event coordinator Karen Pashkow reassured residents staying on Longboat Key that there are plenty more social events to come, including their big Memorial Day gathering.

"I want to thank everybody for coming and making this the best party of the whole year," Pashkow said. "For those of you who are leaving us, we're sorry to see you go. Happy travels, and we'll see you back in the fall. For us who live here full time, we're going to party on all summer."
