Police chase following discharged firearm ends in Lakewood Ranch

Manatee County Sheriff's Office deputies, SWAT and Aviation assisted Sarasota County Sheriff's Office deputies Wednesday night with the arrest of a suspect who led police on a chase from the Punta Gorda Walmart to the front of Eagle Trace on State Road 64.

The suspect, 26-year-old Stanley Noel, had discharged a firearm in the parking lot of the Walmart during an altercation of some sort, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

The altercation took place approximately 7:45 p.m. After discharging his firearm, the suspect got into his car and fled, according to police.

Deputies managed to contain the suspect at the entrance to Eagle Trace, which was closed for several hours when the suspect refused to leave his vehicle. The arrest eventually was made with no injuries.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office issued no other information about the arrest.
