This Oktoberfest event mixes live rock 'n’ roll music with German cuisine. Continues 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Katherine Michelle Tanner’s Tree Fort Productions opens its season with "Red," John Logan's play about the artist Mark Rothko (Lee Gundersheimer), who is challenged by his assistant (Alex Teicheira) about the ethics of a high-profile commission. Runs through Oct. 29.

Key Chorale kicks off its Bachtoberfest with one of Bach’s most popular orchestral works, Brandenburg Concerto No. 2. The festival also features a chamber music concert  of baroque music on period instruments, a concert celebrating the 300th anniversary of Bach’s Magnificat and a performance of Cantata No. 51 for solo trumpet with soprano Mary Wilson. Bachtoberfest wraps with a biergarten experience of German food, beer from Calusa Brewing and music from Bill Milner’s Oompah Band. Continues through Oct. 15.

One Voice: The Music of Barry Manilow

The Sarasota Firemen's Benevolent Fund hosts this event, which involves over a dozen local firehouses competing to see who can make the best chili, according to local celebrity judges.


Wind Ensemble Concert
