As the Sarasota area continues to grow, it hasn’t lost its sense of neighborliness.

That’s the assessment of Neighbor, a storage sharing marketplace based in Lehi, Utah, which ranks the city No. 4 on its 25 Most Neighborly Cities list.

Sarasota was the only Florida city to make the list.

The city topped the list with the highest population change among the top 25 cities, adding 3.4% more people to the community between 2021 and 2022. Rounding out the top five, in order, are Madison, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Rochester, New York.

Factors in the rankings include philanthropy, volunteer work and crime rates. The 100 largest metro areas in the country were analyzed using a combination of survey response data, U.S. government data sets and consumer data.

Founded in 2017, Neighbor is a peer-to-peer storage marketplace that connects people with unused space in their house or on their property to renters seeking storage solutions. Neighbor operates in all 50 states.

The entire ranking of the most neighborly cities can be found at Neighbor.com.
