The Art Ovation Ballroom was a kaleidoscope of color April 12 for one of the most eclectic events of the season, Beaux Arts Ball.
Art Center Sarasota’s annual evening of art and fashion began with a cocktail reception. While sipping drinks, guests also browsed pieces by local artists in the silent auction.
Dinner followed the cocktail hour before a contest where eventgoers showed off their creativity.
Guests dressed to impress in their own kaleidoscopic flair for a costume contest, and outfits ranged from colorful dresses to oversized, handmade hats. Bragging rights and sashes were then given to a handful of the most colorful and creatively dressed guests who strut their stuff on the runway.
Then came the main event – the iconcept runway show. The show brings art and style together to showcase a series of outfits created with unconventional materials that designers spend months working with prior to the show. Most of this year’s ensembles were colorful to go with the kaleidoscope theme, and used materials ranging from an air mattress to aluminum roofing.
Artists mingled with audience members after the show to give them an up-close look at the pieces, then several guests showcased their creativity on the dance floor.
